From the kitchen to the stamp…
We are delighted to share that Swiss Post is paying tribute to the iconic Susi 3 garlic press from Zyliss in its third edition of the "Swiss Inventions" special stamp.
Insert, squeeze, done.
Since 1948, we have been pressing garlic quickly and without smelly fingers, thanks to an invention by Karl Zysset: the Susi 3 garlic press. The inventor and Zyliss founder had the ingenious idea of transferring the principle of the bicycle handbrake to the garlic press and thus invented a milestone in modern kitchen must-haves.
From Switzerland, Karl has changed cooking all over the world. In addition to the garlic press, he created many other clever kitchen gadgets such as the salad spinner and the onion chopper, which are now indispensable in any kitchen. This inventive spirit has been an integral part of our DNA from the very beginning and today extends to sustainable product innovations.
In its special stamp series, Swiss Post is now honouring the Susi 3 as one of the inventions that symbolises Swiss innovation. We are celebrating this honour, and over 70 years of inventive spirit, with a limited special edition of the Susi 3 garlic press, each of which is accompanied by the special stamp.
From 5th September 2024, 4000 special editions will be available on our website www.zyliss.ch, in the top 50 Swiss Post offices, and select Coop stores in Switzerland. Of these, 150 are copies signed by the artist, Jürg Glauser; which are only available at www.postshop.ch in line with a ‘first-come-first-serve’ principle.
We are very proud of our Zyliss brand which has revolutionised the world of cooking for over 70 years and now enjoys this great honour, from the kitchen to the stamp!
